Honolulu Airport Walkway – Project Spotlight
Western Steel Buildings provided a durable, custom 12,000 square-foot covered walkway for Honolulu Airport, ensuring comfortable traveler access.
Project Spotlight
Western Steel Buildings partnered with the South Utah Valley Solid Waste District to deliver a large-scale, pre-engineered steel facility designed to improve waste-handling throughput, equipment flow, and operational safety. The 110,250 sq. ft. expansion integrates engineered steel construction with tilt-wall elements, creating a durable structure built for the heavy demands of municipal waste processing.
With a 30′ clear interior height and open-web trusses spaced at 12′-6″ on center, the facility accommodates large loaders, transfer trailers, and continuous equipment movement. Western Steel engineered this structure to perform in corrosive, high-impact waste environments—ensuring long-term reliability, reduced maintenance, and enhanced operational efficiency for mission-critical municipal services.
This project highlights Western Steel’s ability to deliver complex environmental and infrastructure buildings requiring specialized engineering, precision fabrication, and dependable installation.

“My biggest fear is when we started to build the thing that we’d be missing pieces. I then realized, that through their inventory control process, they already knew that everything was there ahead of time. When I watched it being put together, that’s when I was the most impressed because we had no issues and we were not short any inventory. We wouldn’t have kept the schedule, we wouldn’t be here today, if it wasn’t for the help of Western Steel Buildings.”

General Manager at SUVSWD
“We needed a team that was going to look at every little piece of this building and find a structure that fit exactly to the dimensions, to the functionality that we needed for a transfer station. We were concerned about these costs going up because of big clear span spaces, or having to shrink the building because the costs were increasing. And in the end, we added 10,000 square feet to the building in the last two months of design. Western Steel looked at us and said, excellent, we can add that in. We’re still going to keep you on schedule. We’re going to keep you on budget. Western Steel was great. They understood the needs of the municipality.”
