Work with a Team that is Experienced in Commercial Steel Building Projects.
At Western Steel Buildings, we will help you create a traditional or modern structure for your next commercial or retail metal building project. The metal building envelope has evolved, and Insulated Metal Panels (IMPs) are changing the future of new construction. Major retailers like Ikea, Whole Foods, Amazon and more are choosing pre-engineered steel building systems clad with IMPs as their construction method of choice. This IMP building envelope coupled with the flexibility of our pre-engineered, or hybrid steel building systems have made this new construction solution the best choice for our clients. Design details such as dormers, parapet walls, and more are easily incorporated into our structures. Since the building is fabricated at the factory and cut to spec, these items are easily installed in the field. We spend time working out the details at the beginning of a project, to make sure you receive the highest quality building and a value that is unmatched.
Modern Commercial Building Spotlight – Gateway Center
When the late Ivan Broman of Broman Architects approached us regarding his plans for the Gateway Office Center in Heber City, he wasn’t sure if we would be able to replicate it with a pre-engineered metal building. We were up for the challenge, and truly feel that if Ivan could see it today, he would be proud. Symmetry is the foundation of Ivan’s designs, and they all sing with the harmony of a proportionate, flowing structure. For the Gateway office building, the dormer sits center and establishes a grand entrance. The exterior is a mix of insulated metal panels, wood and brick. The 60’x180’x30’ structure is complete with a standing seam roof system.
Traditional Commercial Building Spotlight – The Sandbar
The Sandbar in Salt Lake City, UT, is anything but traditional; however, in terms of pre-engineered structures, it is a standard box design. When Cory and Steve had the idea to build Utah’s only year-round indoor/outdoor beach volleyball facility, they knew they needed a large building and wanted to make the best of their budget. Western Steel Buildings provided just that, value-engineering the project to ensure they received the best, cost-effective steel building solution. Their 100’x210’x26’ structure includes a steel mezzanine for elevated viewing of the courts, insulated metal panels, and a parapet wall to add dimension and showcase their sign. We think it’s a perfect setup… bump, set, & spike!

Questions from our Customers:
What are the benefits of using steel for commercial building construction?
Commercial steel buildings offer excellent durability, resisting weather, fire, and pests for long-term stability. They also provide design flexibility, allowing large, open layouts without internal supports. Steel’s prefabricated components enable faster construction times, reducing labor costs, while long-term maintenance expenses are lower compared to traditional materials. Additionally, steel is recyclable, making it a sustainable choice for commercial building construction.
What should I consider when planning a commercial steel building project?
When planning a commercial steel building project, consider the intended use, size, and layout, such as a 50×100 metal building. Ensure compliance with local building codes and establish a budget that covers design, materials, and labor. It’s also important to choose a flexible design that allows for future modifications and work with an experienced contractor in commercial steel construction to ensure quality results.
